2008 Formula 1 title dispute continues: Felipe Massa not welcomed to attend Brazil GP. Felipe Massa appears likely to skip the Formula 1 race scheduled for Brazil.

Felipe Massa appears likely to skip the Formula 1 race scheduled for Brazil this weekend due to his ongoing legal challenge regarding the outcome of the 2008 championship.

The Brazilian driver has turned to legal counsel to explore a lawsuit over what he believes was a conspiracy that led to his loss of the 2008 World Championship in favor of Lewis Hamilton.

Felipe Massa contends that at the time, the FIA and Formula One Management (FOM) did not act correctly based on their knowledge of Nelson Piquet’s intentional crash during the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix, which ultimately had an impact on the championship.

Felipe Massa believes that the results of the Singapore Grand Prix should have been entirely annulled, which would have cost Lewis Hamilton the additional points he needed to secure the 2008 world title in the season’s final round.

With the situation still unresolved, as Felipe Massa’s legal team awaits clarification from the FIA and FOM, the Brazilian driver has stayed away from the F1 paddock, canceling his expected appearances at the Italian and Japanese Grands Prix.

Despite the close proximity of the Brazilian Grand Prix to his home and his status as a local hero, it was thought he might make the effort to visit Interlagos. However, speaking with Motorsport.com, Massa stated that he will likely avoid attending the Grand Prix and has not been asked to fulfill any ambassadorial duties.

“The only thing I know is that F1 asked me not to go to the Monza race. I was also supposed to go to the Japanese race [as an ambassador], and I didn’t go. As for Brazil, there hasn’t been any talk, and we haven’t had any contact since before Monza until now, so…” – the former Ferrari driver continued.

When asked whether he would attend races on his own, Felipe Massa said, “I don’t think I will. I would only go to the races as an ambassador. But regarding the ongoing legal situation, I fully respect it, to the extent that I might not attend due to everything that’s happening. But there has been no invitation and no discussion about my ambassadorial role, so I don’t think I need to participate.”

Felipe Massa has repeatedly stated that the goal of any legal action he intends to pursue is to overturn the outcome of the 2008 World Championship.
