Ferrari – discussion between Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton before Fiorano debut. Before debuting with Ferrari at Fiorano, Lewis Hamilton sought advice from Sebastian Vettel.

Lewis Hamilton, 2024 F1

According to Corriere della Sera, Lewis Hamilton contacted four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, his former colleague and friend, on several occasions to prepare for his historic debut at the wheel of a Ferrari on the Fiorano track.

From November 29, 2014, to January 20, 2025, more than ten years have passed, but these dates represent two iconic moments in Ferrari’s legendary history. The first date corresponds to Sebastian Vettel’s debut with Ferrari, which took place on the Fiorano track at the wheel of the F2012, which had been Fernando Alonso’s car and against which the German won his third world championship.

The second date, however, marks the first day when Lewis Hamilton officially wore the Ferrari suit. His debut on the Fiorano track came two days later, with an unprecedented welcome from the fans.

It has emerged that the new Ferrari driver reached out to Sebastian Vettel before his arrival in Maranello, contacting his former rival during the winter to compare notes and prepare for his impending adventure with the Scuderia.

On Wednesday, Ferrari also confirmed that Riccardo Adami, who previously worked with Vettel and more recently with Carlos Sainz, will be Hamilton’s new race engineer for the 2025 season.

As early as last spring, some rumors had revealed that the seven-time world champion Englishman had contacted Sebastian Vettel to get his impression of Riccardo Adami, receiving an enthusiastic praise of his former race engineer from the German.

Vettel’s adventure at Ferrari lasted six seasons, during which the German won 14 races and more than fifty podiums, though he did not achieve his initial goal: the world championship title. Now we must wait and see if Hamilton will succeed in the task left unfinished by Vettel, although the Englishman arrives at Maranello at a very different point in his career.
