Scuderia Ferrari has been defeated in the battle with McLaren for the Constructors’ Championship but emerged from the title fight with its head held high. The Italian side won five GPs compared to just one last year and climbed above Red Bull and Mercedes in the team standings, both of which had finished ahead in 2023, while being surprised by McLaren’s extraordinary growth.
John Elkann, president of Ferrari, promptly extended his congratulations to the Woking team:
“Congratulations to McLaren on winning the Constructors’ Championship. As for us, it was positive to fight until the last lap of the final race. A big thank you to the team for a truly great season, with five victories, including Monaco and Monza.”
JohnElkann also took the time to praise the departing Carlos Sainz:
“A special thanks to Carlos for everything he has given us over the past four years. May this season be the starting point for a 2025 where we aim to be even more competitive.” – the Ferrari president said after the race which was held earlier today at the 5.281-kilometre Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.
