Italian daily newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport reports on the Ferrari new power unit, after the end of the first pre-season testing session at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona
“Rumors speak of major progress on the ICE (internal combustion engine), combined with a super-evolved hybrid part, for a total power output that would now be on a par with Mercedes and Honda.”
La Gazzetta dello Sport confirmed that Scuderia Ferrari and McLaren were the teams that impressed the most during the first three days of testing in Barcelona. On McLaren, the Italian daily newspaper wrote that they found the right setup immediately during the tests and had no reliability issues. The floor of the McLaren is said to be working the best at exploiting the ground effect, so much that the porpoising issue (that many teams have) was only minor.
The Italian media did not write much about the other teams, except Alpine’s weakness seems to still be the PU, Aston Martin doesn‘t seem super fast and seem to have an obvious aerodynamic instability problem, Alpha Tauri could be the positive surprise in Bahrain.
