Former Scuderia Ferrari driver Mario Andretti confirmed in a recent interview that the only thing missing is the approval from Formula 1 and the teams to formalize their entry to Formula 1 starting with the 2024 season. A possible entry of the Andretti group has been discussed for some time now.
Initially, the American racing team had tried to buy a team that is currently taking part in the most important racing series. Recently, there have been negotiations with Alfa Romeo Sauber, but the deal did not materialize as Sauber wanted to keep most of the shares in the team.
In a recent interview with eu.indystar.com, former Ferrari driver Mario Andretti made some important statements. The team of the American giant would be called Andretti Global and would have its headquarters in England. The cars, on the other hand, would be built in Indianapolis (USA) in a factory which is still under construction next to the Indycar team headquarters.
The former Ferrari driver also stated that their team has sent an application to the FIA to enter Formula 1 and above all that they would have already found an engine supplier. In recent days, the entry list of engine suppliers for 2023 has also been made official and Honda has reappeared alongside Red Bull. The Japanese company already supplies engines to Andretti in Indycar, and therefore a partnership between the two parties can not be excluded.

Even regarding the ‘Concorde Agreement’ there would be a solution. The agreement signed by all the teams on the grid imposes an entry fee to join Formula 1 equal to $200 million. However, Andretti would be supported by Group 1001 (an American insurance company) which would be ready to materialize its entry into Formula 1 in 2024. The United States, after having three races in the Formula 1 calendar next year, are heading towards also having more teams in the world championship, the effect of an unprecedented interest that has been generated in the United States, a country eager to enter the F1 business headlong.
