Former Scuderia Ferrari driver Gerhard Berger agreed with the views of several Formula 1 insiders and fans as he stated that he was “100 percent certain” that Fernando Alonso is still capable of winning Formula 1 races and is confident he would actually fight for race wins if he could driver the Maranello team’s F1-75 car or the Red Bull RB 18 this championship.

In just a few days, Fernando Alonso will turn 41, but proved he still has it, with great on track moments at just about every Formula 1 race in this start of the 2022 season, taking the Alpine car into places it has no place being given its pace and performance, such as the front row start in Montreal, after a great qualifying lap for the Canadian Grand Prix.

But the Alpine is nowhere close to Red Bull or Ferrari, which shows that Fernando Alonso’s impressive efforts on Saturdays have to be matched with even better performances on Sundays as he battles much faster cars that start the race behind him.

But each time he puts on his race suit and helmet, the veteran of 343 F1 starts impresses or shows he is still able to fight any driver on the grid, prompting Motorsport Magazin to ask F1 veteran, and now DTM chief, Gerhard Berger for his thoughts on the Spaniard: “I love it!
