Gerhard Berger praises Ferrari SF-25 project: “Fred Vasseur will bring the team back to the top”. Gerhard Berger, former Ferrari driver, has made his prediction for the 2025 F1 season..

Fred Vasseur (Ferrari team principal) and Benedetto Vigna (Ferrari CEO)

The 2025 Formula 1 season is fast approaching. Starting next week, we could have the first on-track feedback from the new cars with the three-day test at the Bahrain circuit. After two weeks, the first race of the year will take place in Australia. Although times are yet to be revealed, everyone is focusing on the Ferrari SF-25 of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. Will this be the year for the world championship title?

The Maranello team enters 2025 with the best driver pairing: a seven-time world champion and a talent ready to win his first. Given how they ended last season, we can only expect improvement. The gap from the constructors’ title was just 14 points.

Since the unveiling of the 677 project, right after the ceremony at the O2 Arena in London, all the innovations of the car were immediately visible. Unlike McLaren, who took the concept to extremes, Ferrari focused on addressing the parts that caused problems last season. The biggest work was done to improve the preparation for qualifying laps.

And this is how Ferrari approaches the new season. Never before have expectations been so high. However, to get confirmation, we will have to wait for the first on-track confrontation, which will take place from February 26 to 28 in the Bahrain tests. It will be the first opportunity to get answers regarding the SF-25 project.

Even before the tests, however, many are confident in the quality of the red car. One of them is Gerhard Berger, who, in an interview with Auto Motor Und Sport, made the following statements. “I can’t say if Hamilton or Leclerc will win the drivers’ championship or the constructors’ championship. I am sure, however, they will win at least one. This is my personal impression.”

“Ferrari was very fast last year, although with some slips. I trust Fred Vasseur. They are well-positioned in terms of engine and chassis, and they have two top-level drivers. Fred makes a good impression on me: he is calm, thoughtful, always punctual.” – he pointed out.

“He has always been like this in all the categories he has worked in. It was clear that it would take one or two years for his work to pay off, and I have the feeling that this moment is coming” – the former Ferrari driver concluded.

The track and FIA Will decide that. Só far we have nothing but promises. I still think Sainz was the future for Ferrari. Hamilton is not Schumacher. The latter made is up hill on Ferrari step by step, year after year, he was the key to make the winning strikes again. He had a winning entourage around him rigth, but it was the german who made the best of all the staff. He was the first to arrive and the last to leave in Maranello every single day, year after year. He was like CR7 in football. Hamilton is waiting for a car that is already, hipothetically, already a very good car to win, there is nothing here to compare. And by the way Hamilton won nothing at Ferrari so far. As soon as errors will appear, wrong stratagies on box, problems with his teammate ONLY then we Will know how good he is. Mercedes won several years because Mercedes Engine was the best on the field clearly, because as soon as hybrid engines came in Mercedes was hugely favoured. Mercedes and Hamilton would have won nothing if ONLY the conventional engines were racing. The ONLY problem of Hamilton was Bottas and Rosberg, all the others had no chance to fight with Hamilton. So any comparison between Hamilton and Schumacher makes me laugh. Even Verstapen had no chance to have that superior Edge over the others, he had to fight a lota more even knowing that he há ANewey along side. Hamilton was clearly an overrated drivers. Even his first Championship até MC Laren was favoured by Ron Dennis. In normal circunstances Alonso would have won it. Being a Ferrari fan I would like him to win this year, but I have my serious doubts even if the SF25 is up the pair. Hope I AM wrong.
