Jean Alesi fascinated by Lewis Hamilton – Ferrari idea: “He would become the Hero of Two Worlds’. Jean Alesi on Hamilton - Ferrari idea.

In his usual commentary for the Italian daily newspaper Il Corriere della Sera on Tuesday, former Scuderia Ferrari driver Jean Alesi analyzed the situation of the Maranello team, focusing on the performance of the Prancing Horse in Monaco and the potential arrival of Lewis Hamilton in Maranello. Here is an excerpt from his most important comments:

Jean Alesi’s analysis

“For Ferrari, it was a missed opportunity,” Jean Alesi begins his analysis for the renowned Italian newspaper, referring to the unsuccessful weekend in Monaco. The Frenchman believes that the crucial moment in the Principality occurred during qualifying: “With that mistake, the team penalized Charles Leclerc, moving him from third to sixth position on the grid.”

The reference, of course, is to the miscommunication that led to the Monegasque impeding Lando Norris. “A serious oversight: in Q3, you should only keep an eye on nine cars besides your own, not twenty,” the former Ferrari driver emphasizes. He then adds, “Starting in third could have meant an almost certain podium, with the chance to try for second place at the start, which would have had a much different impact. Instead, they were behind for the entire race. And if you’re in such a position in Monaco, you lose efficiency and pace, and you can’t accomplish much. Therefore, a stumble that marked the entire weekend, more significant than the strategic blunders shown by many teams in the rain during the race.” – the Frenchman continued.

“Carlos Sainz made some mistakes, perhaps disturbed by the rumors about Lewis Hamilton’s arrival at Ferrari,” Jean Alesi points out. The Frenchman is skeptical about the reliability of the market speculation but doesn’t hide his fascination with it: “The hypothesis doesn’t seem realistic to me, but it sparks the imagination because Lewis, aiming for his eighth title while racing in red overalls, is an exciting possibility nonetheless. For the fans and for him. If he were to achieve such a feat, he would become the hero of two worlds,” Jean Alesi concludes.
