In his regular analysis for the Italian daily newspaper Il Corriere della Sera, former Scuderia Ferrari driver Jean Alesi commented on the Maranello team’s performance in the British Grand Prix and made a prediction for the remainder of the 2023 Formula One season.
According to the Frenchman, fans of the Prancing Horse should resign themselves to the fact that the Reds will continue to offer inconsistent results in the coming months. Here are his considerations:
Jean Alesi’s analysis
“An encouraging result in Austria, a disappointing ranking in England. I say it now: it will be like this for the entire season,” Jean Alesi begins. He then adds, “So let’s prepare ourselves to enjoy a few podiums without expecting miraculous breakthroughs that can change the situation.”
The Frenchman believes that, at this point in the season, the team from Maranello would do better to focus on the upcoming championship: “Ferrari should really look to the future, avoiding climbing the walls race after race.” And he explains, “I say this also thinking about the drivers and our way of assessing some inevitable nervousness. When you’re used to maximizing every available potential and you realize you’re driving an uncompetitive car, the state of mind changes and is overshadowed by a kind of permanent concern. I’m talking about disturbances that exist upstream, and it’s normal for moments of impatience to arise.” – he pointed out.
The same goes for those on the pit wall: “Even those involved in strategy work in a terrible condition: they know that it’s not possible to change reality, they try, they experiment, but—as it has happened—they can only make things worse. Yesterday, as today, there are frequent mistakes and extreme attempts due to a sense of powerlessness. Frustrations arise from decisions that cannot, in any case, reverse reality.” – former Ferrari driver Jean Alesi concluded.
