“Enough words, Fred Vasseur should follow Jean Todt’s example” is the title given by former Scuderia Ferrari driver Jean Alesi to his usual analysis on Tuesdays for the Italian daily newspaper Il Corriere della Sera. An analysis in which, starting from the disappointing result obtained by the Prancing Horse at the Hungaroring circuit in Budapest, the former French driver repeated what he has been saying for quite some time now, namely that the Maranello team should abandon the SF-23 project to focus on the car for the next Formula 1 season.
He did so this time by urging Frederic Vasseur to follow in the footsteps of a “boss” who has written the recent history of the Scuderia Ferrari. Below is an excerpt from his statements
Jean Alesi shakes Ferrari: “Focus solely on the future”
“I have already written it, and I repeat it: Ferrari should focus solely on the future, on the next year, as the progress announced several times does not come,” Jean Alesi begins, commenting on the disappointing weekend experienced by the Scuderia in Hungary.
He then adds: “I believe there is no need to keep trying to change the character of a car that cannot grow. Moreover, the only mistake at the pit stops, in Hungary, came from Ferrari, not to mention the risk of igniting a pointless controversy between the drivers by changing the race strategies, as if they were fighting for a podium.” – the Frenchman explained.

Jean Alesi now expects that “Fred Vasseur demonstrates to be a team principal capable of intervening, who imitates Jean Todt, who took note of every statement made by his collaborators and then verified, with a stopwatch in hand, what this or that had promised.”

“Who suggested a fast Ferrari in Budapest? Why did they do it? I ask this while wondering if technicians capable of changing the situation are really coming. No announcement for now. That means waiting even longer, perhaps too long,” concludes the Frenchman with a strong sense of bitterness.
