Fernando Alonso selling his Ferrari Enzo at inaugural June 8th Monaco Car Auction

The prestigious tradition of car manufacturers gifting automobiles to their Formula 1 drivers has not generally been applied in Ferrari’s history. However, the Prancing Horse marque has a custom of offering special discounts on car purchases for its champions. This was also the case for Spanish driver Fernando Alonso during his time in Italy when he had the privilege of acquiring, among others, a splendid red Ferrari Enzo. After several years, this rare car is now ready to change ownership and will soon be auctioned by MonacoCar Auctions, as announced on social media.

Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari Enzo will be auctioned by MonacoCar Auctions on June 8th. It is chassis number 1, certified by Ferrari Classiche, and has covered only 4,800 kilometers. The Enzo was developed in collaboration with the legendary driver Michael Schumacher during the years when Schumacher dominated Formula 1.

A Collector’s Gem

The auction will take place on June 8, 2023, but the starting price has not been disclosed yet. However, it is expected to reach an astronomical figure, not only due to its ownership history but also because it is the “number 1 chassis,” as confirmed by Ferrari Classiche, and has covered only 4,800 kilometers. During its development, this car benefited from the valuable expertise of Michael Schumacher.

As a special gesture, Ferrari crafted a personalized model for Michael Schumacher, incorporating unique features such as electric windows, a premium Bose stereo system, Rosso Scuderia brake calipers, and the inclusion of Schumi’s iconic logo on the seats and door sills. Notably, the hood proudly displayed the autographs of the legendary seven-time World Champion himself and the then-Ferrari chief, Luca di Montezemolo.

According to the auction post, Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari Enzo was registered in 2011, during his second year at Maranello. This period was also marked by the acquisition of other prestigious vehicles, such as a white Ferrari 458. Furthermore, during that time, the talented driver had the privilege of owning a black LaFerrari, an automotive gem that still remains in his collection and was delivered to him in 2014.
