On December 28, ten years after the tragic accident suffered by the seven-time Formula 1 World Champion, the ARD broadcaster will launch a docu-series about the driver titled “Being Michael Schumacher.” A project composed of five episodes that will revisit the highlights of the German’s motorsport life.
Fans are, of course, eagerly awaiting the moment to relive the feats of their idol, comfortably from the screens of their homes. Michael Schumacher was, until a few years ago, the most successful man in the category (records later broken by Lewis Hamilton between 2019 and 2020), and there was no better person to ask to share a thought about him than Fernando Alonso, a driver who managed to interrupt Michael Schumacher’s winning streak back in 2005.
Fernando Alonso: “Many things in F1 have changed for the better thanks to Michael”
“I think I lost more than I won when compared to him,” begins the two-time world champion from Spain, as reported by ‘The Independent.’ “He is an incredible driver and has been an inspiration for all of us: those who raced with me in karts and in the lower categories while he dominated the Formula 1 scene.” – the former Ferrari driver pointed out.
Michael Schumacher certainly had many qualities. Some of which, according to Fernando Alonso, not only made him the driver we all remember but also contributed to changing and improving the world of Formula 1: “He had his own way of preparing and facing races. The determination and work ethic he put into every weekend strongly influenced the engineers as well. Many things in Formula 1 have changed for the better thanks to Michael.” – the Spanish driver concluded.
