Former Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso, who has never been shy about his opinions on the Italian side, believes the Maranello team had the pace to fight for the race victory in the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix: “Ferrari should have won this race,” he said in his post-race interview to the media after the race which was held at the 4.94-kilometre Marina Bay Street Circuit. “It was probably the fastest car of the weekend. My race wasn’t with them, and finishing just a few seconds behind is positive.” – the Spaniard pointed out.

“I was behind the top four teams and ahead of Perez. Usually, ninth and tenth are the only spots available to us, so finishing eighth is better than we could have dreamed of,” he added. “These are good points, but we were still lapped, and the car was difficult to drive all weekend. I think we need to raise our game now.
