Sebastian Vettel sent message to congratulate Lewis Hamilton for Ferrari move. Ex-Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel sent message to congratulate Lewis Hamilton.

Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari
Undoubtedly, February 2, 2024, will remain in Formula 1 history as the day when – surprisingly – Lewis Hamilton and Scudeia Ferrari announced their partnership starting from the next Formula 1 season. The news, emerged in the early hours of the morning, gradually gained more and more confirmation, until it became official in the evening.

Sebastian Vettel’s opinion
Sebastian Vettel was interviewed by Germany’s leading entertainment company, RTL, that he initially thought it was fake news: “Initially, that’s how it was. I thought that some sort of denial would come somehow, but instead, it was confirmed. But then I immediately wrote to Lewis and congratulated him.” The four-time Formula 1 world champion then analyzed the unexpected more: “I believe him when he says it was a very, very difficult decision to make. Of course, it surprised me, given the bond he had with Mercedes. But I understand the desire to try something new.” – the former Ferrari driver pointed out.

Sebastian Vettel and Mercedes
In the days following Lewis Hamilton’s departure, there was speculation about Sebastian Vettel’s possible return to Formula 1 at the wheel of the Silver Arrow: “I spoke on the phone with Toto Wolff, but not specifically about taking Lewis’s place, rather about the fact that many things are happening at Mercedes.” – he added.

The German champion doesn’t seem to give much credit to the possibility of Max Verstappen leaving Red Bull: “Obviously, there is a lot of chaos at the moment, but from a sporting point of view, I don’t see any reason to consider alternative paths.” – the former Ferrari man concluded.
