Home » Ferrari world champion in Abu Dhabi if…: all possible scenarios

Ferrari world champion in Abu Dhabi if…: all possible scenarios. Ferrari can still become world champion in Abu Dhabi under some conditions.

Oscar Piastri, McLaren MCL38

The constructors’ championship battle will now be decided in Abu Dhabi, with Ferrari still in contention to dethrone McLaren if specific scenarios play out. The Papaya team, after a poor showing in Qatar, squandered its first chance to clinch the title, although…

McLaren remains the favorite for the championship—let’s be clear. Ferrari needs a small miracle, despite the relatively close gap between the two teams. Currently, McLaren holds a 21-point advantage, keeping control of the situation. A total of 44 points are up for grabs, including the fastest lap.

The standings now show McLaren with 640 points and Ferrari with 619, while Red Bull has been mathematically eliminated from the constructors’ championship after Qatar.

Ferrari World Champion 2024 if…
Ferrari, first and foremost, must avoid finishing tied on points without securing a victory. In the event of a tie without a Ferrari win, McLaren would claim the title due to having more second-place finishes this season. However, if Ferrari wins in Abu Dhabi, it would secure the title thanks to a greater number of victories. But there’s more…

– Ferrari becomes world champion if it ties on points with McLaren but wins the Abu Dhabi race. For this to happen, McLaren must not finish 3rd and 4th. Essentially, if McLaren finishes 3rd and 4th, a Ferrari one-two finish with the fastest lap would not suffice.
– If both McLarens finish outside the points, Ferrari would only need a 4th and 5th place finish to clinch the title.
– Ferrari becomes world champion if it scores at least 22 points more than McLaren in the race. With 21 points without a win, Ferrari would lose on the tie-breaker.

McLaren World Champion if…
– McLaren needs only a 3rd and 4th place finish, regardless of Ferrari’s result.
– McLaren becomes world champion in the event of a tie on points, provided Ferrari does not win in Abu Dhabi.

Basically if Mclaren are both in top 4 then its over no matter what.

Will they though? Red Bull looks to have found some of their speed. Mercedes has appeared competitive too. I wouldn’t be surprised if Russell and Max get ahead of the McLaren’s. They seem to have lost their dominant speed in the past few races, and Abu Dhabi will likely not suit them too much.

Basically we need a 1-2 with either Russell or Verstappen finishing 3rd. Doable but we need everything to be perfect during the weekend.

Did you even watch Lando? The yellow flag mistake probably cost him the race. He was the fastest over the race. I am not even a fan of his.
