Leo Turrini (Italian journalist close to Scuderia Ferrari) reflects on Scuderia Ferrari’s decade marked by no Formula 1 titles, despite the fact that the Italian side had two great drivers such as Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel. In his latest blog entery, Leo Turrini explains:

“Alonso + Vettel. 2010-2020 = Zero titles. And it wasn’t Fernando’s fault and it wasn’t Seb’s fault. In the sense that between 2010 and 2020 Ferrari never produced a dominant single-seater. Sometimes he had a winning but never dominant car. Last thing, only on Seb. I like him as a driver and as a man. I know how much he wanted to win at Ferrari and I know he has done everything. He will regret the summer of 2018 for a long time and my gratitude goes to him. Destiny is not always kind to beautiful people.” – Leo Turrini wrote.

Leo Turrini made it clear in his blog post that it’s not the drivers fault that the title is still not coming home to Maranello: “There are presidents, team principals, technical directors, engineers etc.”

According to the Italian journalist, Sebastian Vettel wanted to have a longer contract because he wanted to fight Charles Leclerc on an equal footing and that he was not worth less than him. Neither of the sides wanted to accept the others condition and to at least keep the good memories, they agreed to end this partnership. Leo Turrini hints at the fact that this new Scuderia Ferrari cycle was supported by all three (Elkann/Camilleri/Binotto) but the Italian side’s Team Principal would have prefered to keep Sebastian Vettel for one year (considering the pandemic).
