“You have to work on your weaknesses and improve, but without getting emotional“. These are the words of Stefano Domenicali when he was leading the Ferrari Racing Division, having held the role of Team Principal until 2014.
Work. This is the key word that is being associated so much these days with the Maranello team. The first Grand Prix of the 2023 Formula One season was a wake-up call for the Maranello team who finds itself forced to chase Red Bull from a stellar distance in this start of the championship.
Interviewed by SportMediaset, current Formula 1 chief executive officer Stefano Domenicali spoke on the Ferrari matter. “You have to work, but without emotion. Only with determination can they get out of difficult situations“.
Furthermore, for the former Team Principal, the Ferrari management must not rest on the laurels dictated by history and fame: “Saying ‘we are Ferrari’ is no longer enough. Ferrari has always been a point of reference in Italy and that’s how things should be, but the dimension of the Formula 1 world has changed: other teams and other drivers have grown”.
Finally Sttefano Domenicali urged the team to remain calm, also giving some advice to his former colleagues. “You have to stay focused, keep your head down and try to solve problems. From what I saw in the first days of testing, they have all the elements to be confident of improving in a year like this.”

An invitation to remain calm and confident in view of the 2023 Formula 1 season that certainly also extends to all the fans of the Maranello team, who are already alarmed by the situation and by the gap to the Milton Keynes team seen in at the Bahrain International Circuit. The season, the longest in history, still has a lot to offer, the only thing left to understand is whether Bahrain was just the starter for Red Bull’s domination, or if the music is set to change in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
