A victory that was not predicted until the eve of the weekend, especially knowing the lack of updates on the SF-24. In fact, Ferrari was the only team to arrive without visible aerodynamic updates. Despite this, perfect strategy and a “dominant” SF-24 delivered a historic success for Ferrari. The victory in Austin further solidifies Charles Leclerc’s class, with Jean Todt congratulating him for the achievement.
On the eve of the race, during the Drivers Parade, Charles Leclerc expressed extreme confidence in the potential of the SF-24 ahead of the United States GP. He also stated that he wouldn’t be satisfied with just a podium, but aimed high, setting a double victory as the target.
Last night’s race once again demonstrated that the SF-24 is extremely competitive over long distances. Additionally, it did not suffer from high temperatures and thermal degradation. Leclerc’s and Carlos Sainz’s cars handled the rough surface of the American track’s snake section in race trim, although there are still areas to improve in qualifying.
The victory, or rather the double victory, is the first in the U.S. after 18 years. The last historic double was in 2006 at Indianapolis, with Schumacher and Barrichello at the wheel. During that golden era of Ferrari, the team was led by Jean Todt, who congratulated Charles Leclerc on his victory in Austin.
Through his official profile, the former Ferrari team principal enthusiastically commented on the outcome of yesterday’s race in the Italian evening. “What a race,” Jean Todt began, and in his post, he explicitly referred to the crucial moment of the race, the start. At that moment, Charles Leclerc, with great situational awareness, managed to move from fourth to first by turn 1.
