Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari ended the final session of day 3 of testing in Bahrain early: is there a technical issue behind it?

Lewis Hamilton did not take to the track during the last 40 minutes of Friday afternoon’s session in Bahrain, with his Ferrari remaining in the garage. There has been no confirmation on the reason for this decision, but given what was seen in the Ferrari garage before it was definitively closed, there may have been technical problems.

In fact, in Lewis Hamilton’s garage, Ferrari mechanics were seen opening the engine cover of the SF-25. It could have been a strategic choice, but considering the need to maximize these tests, Ferrari’s car remaining in the garage immediately raised suspicions.

Why did Hamilton end the Bahrain test session early?

In the statement released to the media at the end of testing, Ferrari confirmed the interruption: “In the final minutes, the team decided to stop the car as a precaution due to some unconvincing parameters seen in telemetry.” It remains to be seen what the specific issue was.

Lewis Hamilton also commented on Maranello’s decision to end track work early: “Today we had to stop running a bit ahead of schedule, and the weather was difficult to manage all week.” Nevertheless, the British driver expressed satisfaction with the work done and, in the press conference, spoke about the excellent feeling he found with the Ferrari engine.

Despite the early stop, Lewis Hamilton praised the team’s work. “Overall, these have been fantastic days, and we have made great progress as a team. Sometimes, tests go like this, but we managed to gather a lot of information to work on before the season starts.” – the British driver pointed out at the end of the last day of F1 testing.
