Minardi critical of Charles Leclerc: “He’s a champion, but dirty laundry should be washed at home”. Giancarlo Minardi did not particularly appreciate Charles Leclerc’s radio outburst.

Charles Leclerc Ferrari 2024 interview

The Las Vegas Grand Prix may have irreparably damaged the teammate relationship between Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, who have already been involved in several on-track and media disputes throughout the season and once again found themselves in the spotlight last Sunday.

However, the team order ignored by the Spaniard at the start of the second stint likely represented the classic “last straw,” with the Monegasque driver, fully aware that he was being heard worldwide, losing his temper over the radio towards the Madrid native.

“I did my job. But being ‘the good guy’ always screws me over. Every damn time. It’s not even about that, respect is necessary,” angrily exclaimed car number 16 to his race engineer Bryan Bozzi.

He then added: “I know I should keep quiet, but at a certain point, it’s always the same story. Oh my god.”

Dirty laundry should be washed at home”
Commenting on what happened between the two Ferrari drivers to motorsport.it, Giancarlo Minardi expressed disappointment with Charles Leclerc’s behavior: “With a third and fourth place, Ferrari has reduced the gap to the championship leaders to 24 points, but what happened between Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz should raise concerns.”

“It could be a preview of 2025 with Hamilton’s arrival in the ‘red’ team. I don’t want to blame one or the other. They’re both right, even based on the agreements made before the race. Sainz managed the tires better.” – the founder and managing director of the now-defunct Minardi Formula One team pointed out at the end of the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

“What I didn’t like, however, was Leclerc’s worldwide outburst. He’s a champion, and dirty laundry should be washed at home. The team will need to learn how to better manage its drivers, as it will face a challenging season in this regard.”

Finally, Giancarlo Minardi added: “Managing Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton will be much more difficult than the current situation.” – he concluded.
