Home » Charles Leclerc: “From now on, I’ll focus on myself”

Charles Leclerc: “From now on, I’ll focus on myself”. Charles Leclerc is furious with his Ferrari teammate in Las Vegas.

In Las Vegas, Ferrari was overshadowed by a superb Mercedes. The Silver Arrows shone in the cold Nevada night, finishing ahead of two Ferraris fighting each other. At the checkered flag, Charles Leclerc exploded over the team radio, using colorful language to openly criticize Carlos Sainz‘s behavior.

Charles Leclerc against Carlos Sainz: “Now I know I have to rely on myself”
Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz were at odds during the race in Las Vegas. While his anger subsided in interviews with Sky Italia, the underlying issues remained: “I won’t discuss the details,” the Monegasque began. “Why am I not happy? Because there are things we agree on, and today they went differently.”

Charles tried to hide his disappointment. He put the Maranello team’s interest first before announcing a “selfish turn” for the upcoming races: “But it’s fine like this: we finished in third and fourth, and it doesn’t change anything for the team. I’m a bit disappointed for the drivers’ championship though: I’m fighting with Norris, and I know I have to rely on myself. I need to do better in qualifying and execute everything perfectly to catch Lando. From now on, I’ll focus on myself and try to maximize everything.” – he pointed out.

Challenging first stint, then Ferrari “the fastest”
The conversation with Mara Sangiorgio didn’t just touch on the sensitive topic of the dispute with Carlos. Leclerc also recounted the race in the “City of Sin,” marked by a difficult initial phase.

“At the beginning, I tried to be more aggressive. Only the first stint was negative; in the following ones, we were perhaps the fastest on the track. On the mediums, I struggled a lot. The problem is that I had no warning from the car before losing the front end.” – the Monegasque driver concluded at the end of the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
