2024 F1 Constructors’ Championship within reach for Ferrari: Fred Vasseur’s thoughts. The F1 Constructors' Championship is wide open: Fred Vasseur's thoughts.

Fred Vasseur Ferrari team boss

The triumph in the Italian Grand Prix at Monza is a significant boost of confidence for the entire Ferrari team. Ferrari continues its path toward the top of the Constructors’ Championship, but team principal Frederic Vasseur preaches caution and foresees a “very tight battle.”

Just 39 points behind Red Bull—the championship leader but currently in a delicate moment—Ferrari sees the top of the Constructors’ standings within reach. The push toward the top of the team standings received a substantial boost at the Italian GP, the stage of a spectacular race by the Maranello drivers, competitive in a car finally well-updated.

“I think it would be a grave mistake to draw conclusions or change our plans,” explained a cautious Frédéric Vasseur at the end of the weekend at Monza. The victory at Monza cannot change the team’s approach to a season that, after the disappointing updates at the start of the year, is gradually improving race by race.

Fred Vasseur expects a battle until Abu Dhabi
The upcoming race in Baku will reveal more about the evolution of the battles at the top, but for Fred Vasseur, the storyline will remain similar until the end of the championship. “The road to Abu Dhabi is still long; there are about 450 points available… It’s really a tight fight. It’s the first time I’ve seen a situation in F1 where eight drivers can win races without needing incidents or accidents.”

“Four teams are capable of winning or reaching the podium. The situation changes from session to session,” continued Ferrari’s Frenchman. “I think we can expect it to be like this until the end of the season. It will be a great battle, and it’s true that with eight cars capable of winning, a team could achieve a one-two finish or end up seventh and eighth.” – the French manager pointed out at the end of the Italian Grand Prix.

“Focus on Baku, taking it race by race”
In this balanced situation, unforeseen events could play a decisive role. “I don’t want to talk about retirements, but they could indeed make a big difference in terms of points.”

“Let’s focus on Baku now, then, step by step, we’ll see what happens,” explained a composed Frederic Vasseur. “Zandvoort was complicated for several reasons. I am convinced that the next three races will be a bit better for us.” – the Ferrari team principal concluded.
