Charles Leclerc confident for 2024 because Ferrari “has understood its weaknesses”. Charles Leclerc confident for 2024.

Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc has expressed confidence in the Maranello team’s prospects for 2024 after the challenges faced in this season.

Certainly, a 2022 championship spent almost always competing at the top had given fans hope for a more positive 2023 Formula One campaign. However, the track has revealed a completely different story, with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz quickly realizing that they will have to wait until at least 2024 to see a different Ferrari.

The Monza weekend has rekindled enthusiasm in an environment that had to deal with quite a few disappointments in the early months of 2023. From difficulties in qualifying to tire degradation issues, the SF-23 had to quickly adjust its goals from last winter, tempering the enthusiasm that had peaked at the Fiorano presentation.

On the eve of the Singapore Grand Prix weekend, Charles Leclerc talked about his initial impressions regarding Ferrari’s 2024 season. “We understood quite quickly what our weaknesses are. Over time, we have confirmed that our car performs better on circuits with low aerodynamic load, so we expect a challenging weekend here.”

The difficulties of 2023 are seen as steps toward improvement in the coming season. This seems to be the mantra within the Maranello team. “Certainly, we can learn something from this situation. After Monza, we understood some things, not so much for this season but for 2024,” continued Charles Leclerc. “The new project is very different from that of the SF-23. We have to use these last races to fine-tune some details on the new car. I haven’t seen the new car yet because it’s not ready. But I trust Fred’s words, and I know the engineers are working hard. I can’t wait to use it in the simulator.”

It will be challenging to become a rival to Red Bull in the world championship perspective, given the substantial gap accumulated by the Horner-led team. “I don’t know if we’ve understood everything needed to win again in 2024. Certainly, it’s a step in the right direction.”
