Ayrton Senna was one of the greats in Formula 1, and Ferrari chose to honor him at the Imola GP with a special detail on the SF-24 livery. Although the three-time world champion never raced for Ferrari, the Maranello team recognizes the invaluable legacy of the Brazilian who died prematurely.
This year’s Imola GP holds special significance as it marks the thirtieth anniversary of Senna’s death. It was at Imola during the tragic weekend of 1994 that Ayrton Senna lost his life on May 1st, marking a dark year for Formula 1.
After working on updates for the Enzo and Dino Ferrari Circuit in Imola, Ferrari decided to honor the late champion. The two Ferraris will race with a special sticker featuring the logo commemorating the thirtieth anniversary of Ayrton Senna’s death.
The logo will be displayed as a sticker near the engine cover on the two cars. The Maranello team, busy with its home GP and the first European race of the season, showcased the special sticker on its social media profiles.
For Ferrari, this weekend is not like any other. The new version of the SF-24, with a significant upgrade package, will debut in Italy. The real test will be seeing how these updates perform on the track.
Despite McLaren’s noticeable improvement and Red Bull’s proven competitiveness seen in Miami, there is a sense of optimism within Ferrari. Now, in the land that immortalized Ayrton Senna, it’s time for Ferrari to prove that the progress made so far is just the prelude to something greater.
