There are now just seven races to go until the end of the 2022 season, which will also mark the end of Sebastian Vettel’s Formula 1 career. The German champion, who in 16 seasons has won four world titles and has become, over the years, the third most successful driver in the history of sport, has not yet decided what his future will be.
The former Scuderia Ferrari driver, who has become a firm supporter of environmental issues in recent years, has – for example – ruled out a possible move to Formula E: “I don’t want to be the face for something that doesn’t fully convince me. I don’t understand the meaning behind [Formula E]. The battery technology that is being developed has nothing to do with the technology that a normal car could use.” – Sebastian Vettel recently confirmed.
The Aston Martin driver has also had some talks with the current boss of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali, who had opened the door to a possible entry of the 35-year-old German into the executive management of Formula 1. The common feeling, however, is that Sebastian Vettel wants to spend at least some time relaxing with his family. Thinking about a medium-term future, however, the former Ferrari driver has not completely ruled out the possibility of being involved in some way in the world of motorsport.
Now a suggestion, albeit a joke, came to him from his Scuderia Ferrari colleagues: Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. Sebastian Vettel’s last teammate in Ferrari and the driver who took his place in Maranello, in fact, indicated Seb as the ‘driver’ currently present on the grid with the best qualities to become the boss of a Formula racing team 1. An assessment totally shared by the two drivers in red, who answered this question with conviction during a joint interview with Viaplay in Zandvoort.

“Which driver would be the best team boss in the future? Sebastian” – Carlos Sainz’s immediate response, with Charles Leclerc immediately following his teammate: “I was thinking the same”. A beautiful display of esteem for a champion who has certainly left a great memory throughout the years in the paddock.
