“Captain Charles Leclerc should think about building a winning team,” Jean Alesi headlines his usual Tuesday analysis for the Italian daily newspaper Il Corriere della Sera. According to the former French driver, the Monegasque would do better to adopt a different attitude from the one shown in recent weeks in front of a struggling Ferrari Formula 1 team. Here are his thoughts.
Jean Alesi’s commentary
“I would like to propose a reflection on Charles Leclerc, who represents a unique case in Ferrari’s history, as he has been part of this family since he was a child,” says Jean Alesi. He then adds, “Michael Schumacher agreed to move to Ferrari knowing that he would have to grit his teeth and wait five years before winning a World Championship again. Charles made his debut with Ferrari in 2019: that’s why I think he should have a different attitude from any other driver.” – the Frenchman pointed out in his article for Corriere della Sera, one day after the Miami Grand Prix, which was held at the Miami International Autodrome in Florida, USA.
“He can’t single-handedly solve the car’s problems. He tries hard, makes mistakes, gets angry with himself: I understand, but his goal, in light of reality, must be to create a winning team. He knows that the situation seen in Miami won’t change much in 2023, so he needs to build a group that can create a winning car in the future,” continues the Frenchman, ‘pushing’ the Monegasque to adopt a leadership behavior.

The final comment: “There will be changes for the SF-23, but we need to look beyond that. I hear rumors about Charles switching to other teams, and I think: it doesn’t make sense, it’s not right. Charles Leclerc is part of Ferrari and must assume the mentality of the captain of a family that loves him and that he loves.” – the former Ferrari man concluded.
