Sebastian Vettel’s 70th Anniversary Grand Prix was definitely just as complicated as the first race in Silverstone: Seb started eleventh and right on the opening lap he spun at the first corner. After that, he fought back to finish twelfth, two places off the points, in line with the disappointing performances from the first races of the 2020 Formula One season. The difficulties in handling the SF1000 car and the uncertainties surrounding his Formula 1 future have certainly contributed to the unusual poor results for the German driver.
Retired French racing driver and four-time Formula One Drivers’ Champion Alain Prost reflects on Sebastian Vettel’s difficult period with Ferrari:
“I like Sebastian a lot as a person. Maybe he’s a bit fragile in a certain way because he is a sensitive person. Sometimes I suppose he feels bad from this point of view. But he loves racing, he has a passion for Formula 1. It’s sad to see him like that… Can you imagine all the pressure he’s on right now? With what happened last season and in the winter. All these things together, it’s very difficult. He is much faster than what we can see today.” – the former Scuderia Ferrari driver explained.
