Before what happened in the conference, in the footage at the end of the Mexican Grand Prix, a rather disappointed Charles Leclerc was seen, despite securing third place. The Monegasque driver had already seemed quite frustrated in his statements after the qualifying session at the 4.304-kilometre Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City, where he complained about his lack of feeling with the car.
In the race, the situation seemed better, with Charles Leclerc once again taking advantage of the duel between Lando Norris and Max Verstappen to gain two positions. As had already happened at the start of the Austin GP, the Monegasque driver was very skillful in exploiting the battle between the two title contenders to move closer to the front of the race.
Car number 16 never managed to close the gap with Carlos Sainz, and due to an error he made in the third sector, he had to give in to the pressure from Lando Norris.
The funny moment in the press conference
In the press conference after the Mexican GP, Charles Leclerc appeared more relaxed and was at the center of a humorous moment. While describing the error he made in defending against Norris, the Monegasque accidentally let slip the “F-word” so disliked by the FIA. “I had oversteer and then, as I countersteered, I lost the car. At that moment, I thought, ‘oh f***.’”
Immediately, Carlos Sainz pointed it out, to which Charles Leclerc responded with, “Oh no, I don’t want to catch up to Max,” and then burst into laughter.
The reference is clearly to what happened a few weeks ago when Max Verstappen was penalized by the FIA with community service after using language deemed inappropriate during conferences.
