2024 F1 Championship now “realistically possible” for Ferrari: Leclerc and Sainz speak out. Can Ferrari realistically dream of winning the 2024 F1 constructors' championship?.

Following the one-two finish in Austin with Charles Leclerc’s win and Carlos Sainz’s victory in Mexico, can Ferrari realistically dream of the constructors’ championship?

The two Ferrari drivers are keeping expectations modest, aware that four races remain, and anything is possible.

In the press conference at the Mexican Grand Prix, the Monegasque reiterated that the title remains the main objective at Maranello. However, “we don’t think about it every day. I believe the best way to reach it is to focus on ourselves and aim to maximize our package, which is what we’ve done these past two weeks. The constructors’ title, though, is realistically possible.” – he pointed out following the race at the 4.304-kilometre Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City

Charles Leclerc explained that the world championship goal won’t only depend on Ferrari’s performance; a bit of luck will be needed. “For the drivers’ title, I need to do everything perfectly. I’ll need a bit of misfortune elsewhere. But the constructors’ is definitely our main goal.”

Carlos Sainz shares a similar perspective. The Mexican GP winner believes both championships are within reach, and they’ve been discussing it recently. “[Charles and I] motivate each other, knowing there’s a chance. We know we have a good relationship, so we both know there’s a possibility [of winning], and we’re comfortable driving.” – the future Williams driver pointed out.

“The key,” continued the Spaniard, “is to keep being consistent and have two drivers who are always in the fight. This weekend, we did a really good job on this challenging track, where you could see a bit of chaos in Q1 and Q2, and everything could go wrong or not.”

Regarding the constructors’ championship: “As Charles said, I’m not obsessed with it because it doesn’t entirely depend on us. Also, given McLaren’s speed, it somewhat depends on them. We’ll keep doing our best to push each other until we win,” concluded Carlos Sainz after his splendid race victory in the Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix.
