Formula 1 wants Las Vegas GP to generate more revenue than Super Bowl. F1 wants Las Vegas GP to generate more revenue than Super Bowl.

The 2023 Formula One season will be the first since 1982 to introduce the Las Vegas Grand Prix on its calendar, the last of the three races that will take place in the United States during a single F1 championship. The event, which unlike that of forty years ago will take place on the street circuit of the Strip, however, will not be the only major event to be held in the ‘gambling capital’.

In 2024, in fact, the Nevada city will also host one of the most anticipated events in US sport, which this time concerns a different sport, American football; in February, the Allegiant Stadium will in fact be the site of the Super Bowl, that is to say the final of the NFL championship.

A single event capable of generating a significant economic impact, but which will not reach the levels of Formula 1. This, at least, according to what was expressed by the President and chief executive officer of the sport Stefano Domenicali, present at the ‘Las Vegas Preview’ event. According to forecasts, the Grand Prix will be able to generate total earnings, at the end of the first edition, of over 1 billion dollars, which is about double of those generated by the Super Bowl. All this thanks to an expenditure from fans estimated at 966 million dollars, to which we add another 259 million from related activities.

There are also some incredible ticket packages for the race, some of which include prices ranging from 1 to 5 million dollars: “The Las Vegas Grand Prix will not be a hit and run event” – explained former Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali – “We will always be present with our F1 brand not only in the week of the event, because we want Las Vegas to become a place where the F1 brand can develop in the United States. There will be a lot of things that will be ready at the last minute, but that’s part of the game. But there’s an incredible professionalism here that we’ve found in the community that works with us.” – he pointed out.

A similar view was also underlined by the CEO of the Las Vegas GP, Renee Wilm, who wanted to indicate the track construction project also aimed at not affecting traffic and the activity of local businesses, as well as those of the casinos: “The construction of the paddock is in full swing – he admitted in an interview with KTNV – and the timing for the construction and fitting out will vary in each area depending on the installation, but we will really start building in earnest as early as June. We have plans for vehicular bridges, walkways, business access points and are working closely with the city officials and Fire Departments to ensure traffic mitigation and are working with our local partners to try to reduce disruption. We know it will be a difficult and busy weekend for traffic, but we think the value we are bringing to the city and the experience we are creating will far outweigh the inconvenience factor.” – Renee Wilm said.
