Home » Ferrari: date set for Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz’s return on track at Fiorano for first test

Ferrari: date set for Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz’s return on track at Fiorano for first test. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will return to Fiorano for the first Ferrari tests of 2024.

Scuderia Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will return to Fiorano in the coming days for the first tests with the Maranello team in 2024. The long winter break is about to end, at least for Formula 1 drivers. Next week, the two from the Red Team will be back on the track for training, in preparation for the new F1 season.

This is a standard procedure repeated every year to allow the drivers to reacquaint themselves with the race car.

According to reports from the Italian daily newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz already worked in the simulator in December before the Christmas holidays. Formula 1 activities will officially resume around January 9 or 10. The two ‘Carlo’s are expected at the factory and will then hit the track at Fiorano for the first training sessions with the F1-75, the 2022 car.

Scuderia Ferrari is adopting a low-key approach to avoid falling into the same errors as last year. Project 676 is considered a completely new car, the result of work done in the latter part of the 2023 season when the Ferrari SF-23 showed the first signs of improvement.

In Maranello, they place a lot of trust in the feedback from the drivers, demonstrating that having a different driving style (Charles Leclerc prefers oversteer, Carlos Sainz prefers understeer) doesn’t mean anything at all. It has been stated multiple times that the issue with Ferrari lies with the car, not the drivers.

As reported by Il Corriere dello Sport, the leadership explains that they just need to provide them with “a solid aerodynamic platform, and both will perform well.”

After the announcement of this “silent revolution,” the car that will compete in the 2024 Formula One championship will be presented on February 13. However, the results will have to be seen on the track. The Bahrain tests will already give an indication of what the season will be like.
