Gerhard Berger reflects on Mattia Binotto replacing Maurizio Arrivabene as Ferrari Team Principal. Berger talks about Ferrari's recent changes.

Austrian former Formula One racing driver Gerhard Berger, who competed in Formula One for 14 seasons, twice finishing 3rd overall in the championship (1988 and 1994), both times driving for Scuderia Ferrari, reflected on the changes which took place at the Maranello team, with Maurizio Arrivabene’s departure and being replaced by former technical boss Mattia Binotto, as confirmed by the Italian side on Monday.

“Giving Mattia Binotto the team and saying goodbye to Maurizio  Arrivabene was the right choice for Ferrari. Mattia Binotto is the man who has everything under control technically and knows the team behind him.” – the former Scuderia Ferrari driver said, as reported by the leading German automobile magazine based in Hamburg, Auto Bild – “We have to remember that Ferrari won their titles under the leadership of Jean Todt mainly in Paris. In other words, the influence that Todt had on the FIA back then was very big.” – he added.

At the same time, Gerhard Berger thinks that Scuderia Ferrari should find someone to help Mattia Binotto in that area: “The FIA allowed them any technical innovation and gray areas were always white. The same advantage Mercedes has for the last few years with Toto Wolff and Niki Lauda as a leading duo.” – the Austrian former Formula One racing driver concluded, as reported by Auto Bild on Tuesday.
