The ‘game’ in terms of Formula 1 technical market continues
This week saw the official announcement of Enrico Cardile’s move from Ferrari to Aston Martin. The former technical director of the Scuderia from Maranello will become the chief technical officer of Lawrence Stroll’s team, which, after poaching Dan Fallows from Red Bull and Eric Blandin from Mercedes, has secured another important acquisition from the Maranello team.
According to Cesare Fiorio, former Formula One sporting director for Ferrari, Ligier and Minardi, and former team manager of Lancia’s factory World Rally Championship team, Scuderia Ferrari will not be caught unprepared by the departure of the technical director, and there is still the highly prized Adrian Newey on the market. Adrian Newey left Red Bull on May 1 and could join another team at the end of the first quarter of 2025.
In the meantime, on his blog, the authoritative and well-informed Italian journalist Leo Turrini reported that the Maranello has extended its consultancy agreement with Rory Byrne – the engineer and car designer behind Michael Schumacher’s F1 cars – until 2027. Rory Byrne currently lives in Phuket, Thailand, and is involved in the real estate sector with his wife. “Who knows, maybe it’s a hint for other things as well,” Leo Turrini added regarding Rory Byrne’s ‘confirmation’ until 2027.
