Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc has emphasized the importance for the Maranello to “prioritize our own efforts” and “comprehend” the challenges they face regarding the 2023 F1 Pirelli tires in preparation for the upcoming round of the season, the Canadian Grand Prix, which takes place this weekend at the 4.361-kilometre Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal.
The talented Monegasque driver achieved Scuderia Ferrari’s sole podium finish of the 2023 Formula One championship in an impressive performance at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix at the Baku City Circuit, where he also claimed pole position with a great lap. However, apart from that exceptional result, the Scuderia has encountered a difficult F1 campaign, especially compared to the high expectations before the start of the season.
Several crashes have hindered their progress, and despite some successful qualifying sessions, tire degradation problems have left the SF-23 cars of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz at a disadvantage compared to their competitors from Mercedes and Aston Martin, with Red Bull racing in a league of its own this year.
This was painfully evident during a disastrous weekend at the Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona in the Spanish Grand Prix: Charles Leclerc qualified a lowly 19th and failed to break into the top ten, ultimately finishing the race in 11th place without scoring any points.
As the Canadian Grand Prix approaches following Ferrari’s incredible triumph at the Le Mans 24 Hours, the team sees an opportunity to make strides forward in their Formula 1 endeavors.

In a recent interview for the media, Charles Leclerc explained: “We have to focus on ourselves and try to understand what’s going on with the tyres and put them in the right window more often. Try to understand this upgrade and maximise it in the best possible way in the next few races – let’s see what happens.” – the Monegasque driver explained, ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix.
