Former Scuderia Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel is looking to the future ahead of his final Formula 1 race, as the four-time world champions will end his F1 career after today’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which takes place at the Yas Marina circuit.
“There’s lots of other things in my head as well, other interests and ideas outside racing.” – the German driver said ahead of his final race weekend – “Obviously I’ve done this for so long and it’s central to my life. So it would be difficult to to say that I’m not going to to miss it.” – he added.
Sebastian Vettel leaves the sport after 16 seasons in which he became the youngest-ever race winner 14 years ago — a record which was later broken by Max Verstappen — then enjoyed the best moments of his career with Red Bull. Seb joined Scuderia Ferrari in 2015 and tried to bring the Maranello team back at the top, but after two failed title challenges, he left the Italian side at the end of 2022, moving to Aston Martin for two often-anonymous midfield campaigns. Those quieter recent seasons “have been very important for me, one, for the driving, but maybe to have the room and possibility to grow even more off track,” he admitted.
One of Formula 1’s most vocal campaigners for human rights, Sebastian Vettel has also focused attention on the sport’s environmental record. When he confirmed in July that he would retire from the sport, Sebastian Vettel pointed out that, as much as he enjoyed fighting on track, he felt increasingly uncomfortable with “burning resources.”

While racing for Scuderia Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel partnered Kimi Raikkonen for four seasons as they looked to challenge the strong Mercedes team. The Finnish driver ended his F1 career last year after a few seasons with Alfa Romeo and wanted to share a short but significant message for his former Maranello teammate, as the two had a great relationship while working together for Ferrari, as confirmed by the German driver.
Here is Kimi’s post on his Instagram account, with just a few hours until Sebastian Vettel’s last Formula 1 race:
