The Italian manager was asked about the Red Bull dominance, complimenting Christian Horner‘s team: “They deserve it; the team is very strong, and Max Verstappen makes no mistakes. The driver is extraordinary, and the combination of Max with the car is fantastic. If we think that Sergio Perez has the same car, you can see the difference with Max, who is doing extraordinary things. Unfortunately, he killed the championship because from the very first races, it was clear they would win. I hope that next year there will be a bit more competition because otherwise, it wouldn’t be very nice. People need to see who is competing for the title, not such a strong domination.” – the former Renault team principal explained.

He also looked at Ferrari, the just-concluded season, and the Maranello team’s hopes for the 2024 Formula 1 campaign: “Their championship was a mixed bag. They had races where they were competitive in qualifying but much less so with a full tank of fuel. They lagged behind; it’s a yellow card. We have to hope for improvement this winter to be more competitive. I hope for all Italians and for the sport that Ferrari manages to be at least competitive; winning the championship is complicated. Ferrari should fight for at least a podium in every race. Fred Vasseur? I hope a Frenchman makes Ferrari win, like I made the French win.” – he concluded.
