Flavio Briatore confirms “Alpine wants to win races in 2026, we’ll do everything to get Carlos Sainz”. Flavio Briatore spoke about the possibility of signing Carlos Sainz for 2025.

Despite only being appointed as an executive consultant ten days ago, the “Briatore effect” has already yielded results for Alpine, with the French team achieving three consecutive top ten finishes and bringing home five points. Although not enough for such a prestigious brand, it is certainly an important confidence boost for the future, considering the disastrous start to the 2024 Formula 1 season.

Will Alpine be great again in 2026?
However, Flavio Briatore has decided to return to Formula 1 after fifteen years away, not with the intention of settling for a few points, but to bring the French team back to the top, as happened with Fernando Alonso in 2005 and 2006.

“I will win races in 2026,” the Italian manager stated in an interview during the program “La Politica nel Pallone.” “In 2026 the team will be on the podium. How many podiums we achieve, I don’t know. But in 2026, we will be on the podium. This year we have many problems that I can’t tell you about. We are cleaning up and reshaping the entire team. I have been given full powers by President De Meo, and when I have powers, I use them, I don’t let others use them. I guarantee you that in 2026, we will have another broadcast like this and we will talk about Alpine’s podiums.”

Finally, Flavio Briatore also spoke about the possibility of signing Carlos Sainz for 2025. The Spaniard seemed to be promised to Williams, but the English team, tired of the Ferrari driver’s indecision, reportedly decided to consider other profiles, notably Ocon and Bottas.

“The possibility that Carlos Sainz interests us? We are very interested. We’ll see in the coming days, although at this moment, a driver doesn’t make a big difference at Alpine. We need to fix the car first, so Pierre Gasly is fine. We also have the possibility of using Doohan. Of course, it’s incredible that Carlos is free. We are all willing to have him in the team, so we will do our best like all the other teams. The best will always win.” – Flavio Briatore concluded.
