Scuderia Ferrari is attracting a lot of attention to itself in this start of the 2023 Formula One of the season. Not only for the negative results seen on the track in the first round of the championship, but mainly due to the great confusion that prevails in Maranello, following the recent departure of key figures and other possible contract terminations of staff members and engineers.
New team principal Frederic Vasseur will have to do an incredible job to get the Prancing Horse back on track. Whether he will be able to do it only time will tell. Meanwhile, many trust him, believing that the Frenchman is the right man to build the foundations on which success will then be achieved. David Coulthard, a former Formula 1 driver and now commentator for Sky Sports, is also convinced of this. Below there is an excerpt from his recent comments regarding the situation of the Maranello team:
David Coulthard’s comments on Scuderia Ferrari
“As a foreigner, Fred doesn’t have to submit to certain cultural norms. He can say: «Guys, this is a racing team, I’m the boss and I want to do things this way». And it will be less a matter of personal interests or reputation”, said David Coulthard in a recent interview for Formule1.nl.
The Scotsman also believes that Frederic Vasseur’s “track” nature could be one of those factors that make the difference: “He is a racer. This is another important aspect. Mattia Binotto was an engineer, Maurizio Arrivabene a marketing man”. The final comment: “Fred Vasseur is not distracted by peripheral issues, he is concentrated only on the performance of the car” – the former Formula 1 driver concluded.
