Ferrari to grant Lewis Hamilton a rare ‘privilege’ not seen since Michael Schumacher F1 era. Ferrari will grant Lewis Hamilton access to Enzo Ferrari's former home near the Fiorano test track..

Future Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton aims to surpass Michael Schumacher and become Formula 1’s first eight-time world champion as he prepares to join the Maranello team. Currently, both drivers share the record with seven titles each, but Lewis Hamilton could etch his name in history by clinching his eighth championship in Ferrari colors.

This potential milestone holds a special resonance, as Michael Schumacher’s legendary run of five consecutive titles from 2000 to 2004 made him nearly synonymous with the Italian side. Though Hamilton is still with Mercedes, he’s already setting the stage for this significant transition. Former Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel cautions that Hamilton may face a “culture shock” at Ferrari, given his entire career has been spent with British teams.

In preparation, Lewis Hamilton is learning Italian to better integrate into the Maranello team culture, a step Michael Schumacher found invaluable during his own time with Ferrari.

Although Schumacher’s brother, Ralf, insists that Michael will always be “light years” ahead of Hamilton regardless of any future achievements, fans and analysts may view the comparison more favorably for Hamilton if he finds success at Ferrari. Since Schumacher’s era, Ferrari has managed just one driver’s title, claimed by Kimi Raikkonen in 2007, and last won the constructors’ championship in 2008. While they’re still competitive this season, a win could strengthen their long-standing rivalry with McLaren.

In a symbolic nod to Michael Schumacher, the British driver will follow in his footsteps by residing in the historic home of Enzo Ferrari, the brand’s legendary founder. This privilege has not been extended to any driver since Michael Schumacher’s tenure. According to well-known Sky Sport Italia commentator Carlo Vanzini, who shared insights on Roberto Chinchero’s Twitch channel, Ferrari will grant Lewis Hamilton access to Enzo Ferrari’s former home near the Fiorano test track.

Whether Lewis Hamilton will reside there full-time or use it as a convenient base for his work at Maranello remains uncertain. Currently residing in Monte Carlo, Lewis Hamilton could use this nearby home to collaborate with Ferrari engineers while avoiding the constant attention of photographers and fans. Only about 15 miles from the Fiorano track, this discreet residence will allow Hamilton the privacy to focus on his work as he embarks on this next chapter with Ferrari.

“Lewis will live in Enzo Ferrari’s house,” said Carlo Vanzini. “He’ll have it as a base of support when he goes to Fiorano. Since the times of Michael Schumacher, no driver has had this privilege. I also think it was the right choice, because I believe for a character like Lewis, to move publicly is already difficult.”

Lewis Hamilton has transformed remarkably over the course of his Formula 1 career, evolving from a talented rookie with a fiery spirit into a globally admired figure known for his skill, leadership, and impactful social platform. This change has been as much about personal growth as professional success, a development that continues to impress his team principal at Mercedes, Toto Wolff, who admires Hamilton’s dedication to “constant self-development.”

Since his debut in 2007, Hamilton has matured well beyond the “somewhat petulant” young driver described by BBC Sport’s Jennie Gow. Over time, he has become a respected ambassador of the sport, wielding his influence both on and off the track to drive conversations on critical issues, including diversity, sustainability, and social justice. Now on the brink of surpassing Kimi Raikkonen in race starts—making him second only to Fernando Alonso—Lewis Hamilton’s legacy in F1 is undisputed.

His impending move to the Maranello team in Italy has stirred excitement across the industry. For Formula 1’s commercial rights holders, Liberty Media, Hamilton’s arrival at the iconic Scuderia promises a new wave of attention, adding to the popularity surge already sparked by the Netflix series *Drive to Survive*. This high-profile transfer is expected to fuel even more fan engagement, ensuring that Hamilton’s influence and story continue to draw both long-time fans and newcomers to the sport in 2025 and beyond.
