Home » Ollie Bearman: “I feel like an F1.5 driver. I would retire young just to win a world title”

Ollie Bearman: “I feel like an F1.5 driver. I would retire young just to win a world title”. Ollie Bearman explained how difficult it is to transition from F1 to F2.

Without a doubt, he is one of the most promising and awaited talents in the current scene. Ollie Bearman, after participating in the third F1 race of the season, can no longer be considered a rookie just a few months after his debut as a full-time Haas driver.

From the Jeddah weekend to that of Interlagos, the British driver’s growth has been evident, despite his Formula 2 season not being among the most brilliant. Prema’s struggles certainly did not help, as seen in the performance issues faced by another highly anticipated prospect for next year, Kimi Antonelli.

The two young drivers were often called to switch between categories during the season to help them adapt in preparation for the 2025 Formula 1 season. Transitioning from F1 to F2 is not straightforward, as Oliver Bearman explained on Pirelli’s podcast Box Box Box.

“I feel like an F1.5 driver since I still have to finish the season with Prema but already have a seat for next year. I can’t wait to get started and see how 2025 will go,” said the Briton.

The announcement of his move to Formula 1 came well in advance, allowing Oliver Bearman to get to know his future team early. “I’m used to knowing my future ahead of time. On one hand, it’s positive because it relieves some pressure, but on the other hand, you can’t wait for the new year to arrive. I’m working hard to be ready for the next season, but I wish I were already in Australia,” added the future Haas driver.

“It’s not easy to go from Formula 1 to Formula 2. These are cars that require completely different driving styles. I feel much more comfortable with F1; it gives me more confidence. For my driving style, I think they are better suited; I feel like I’m at home,” Oliver Bearman added.

“The main difference is that in Formula 1, there is an obsessive attention to detail. For every aspect, there is someone dedicated solely to that. This is also why the gaps are always very small.” – the Ferrari junior pointed out.

The goal is the world championship.

Despite his young age, Oliver Bearman is already clear about his objective, and he seems ready to do (almost) anything to achieve it. “I want to win a world championship; it’s why I get out of bed every morning. I would agree to retire from F1 at twenty-five just to achieve it, but I would continue racing in some other category. Without racing, I feel lost,” concluded the Briton.
