Home » Former Ferrari driver returns to PREMA for a new adventure in IndyCar

Former Ferrari driver returns to PREMA for a new adventure in IndyCar. Robert Shwartzman leavs Ferrari to race in the IndyCar category.

Rumors had been circulating for days, and now it’s official: Robert Shwartzman is saying goodbye to Ferrari and returning to PREMA to race in the IndyCar category. On November 5, Robert Shwartzman’s departure from Ferrari was confirmed, marking his return to PREMA, the team that first led him to Ferrari.

The Israeli driver has served as a test and reserve driver for the Maranello team and has taken to the track multiple times in a Ferrari suit. Now, after a stint in the WEC with Ferrari, he’s ready to return to his roots.

“Shwartzman joined PREMA for the first time in 2018, securing third place in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship and finishing as the best rookie that year, in addition to winning the Toyota Racing Series title. In 2019, he claimed the inaugural title of the new era FIA Formula 3 Championship, kicking off PREMA’s dominant run in the series,” the statement reads.

Robert Shwartzman’s comments after leaving Ferrari
The Israeli driver stayed with the team for his move to the FIA Formula 2 Championship, where he achieved six wins and 14 podiums over two seasons, becoming runner-up in 2021. In 2022, he transitioned to Ferrari, where he also served as a test driver for Haas. Returning to PREMA Racing, he’ll reunite with an old acquaintance, Callum Ilott, as the team debuts in the IndyCar series.

“I’m really, really excited to be back with PREMA to start a new adventure in INDYCAR. Everything will be new for us, and there will be many challenges, but it will also be a lot of fun and very demanding at the same time. I believe a successful future awaits us. INDYCAR is a highly competitive series with so many strong drivers, and I can’t wait to race because it looks truly amazing.” These were Shwartzman’s words as he embarks on his new experience.
