As previously confirmed, Peter Bonnington, known as Bono, will not be Lewis Hamilton’s race engineer: Ferrari has chosen to pair Riccardo Adami with the seven-time world champion. Therefore, the Italian engineer will continue to be part of the Maranello team’s pit wall.

It seems Ferrari tried everything to bring Bono to Maranello but faced a firm rejection from Toto Wolff, who decided to keep his top engineer at Brackley. As a result, Ferrari was forced to opt for continuity, continuing to rely on Riccardo Adami.

The former race engineer for Carlos Sainz also worked with Sebastian Vettel during his four years in red. Riccardo Adami has been with Ferrari for 10 years, having joined in 2015 after leaving Toro Rosso. At the Faenza-based team, he served as the race engineer for Vitantonio Liuzzi, Daniel Ricciardo, and Sebastian Vettel during the latter’s debut year in F1.

Ferrari, therefore, has not implemented any revolution when it comes to race engineers. While Bono was retained by Toto Wolff, the same cannot be said for some of Mercedes’ top talents, who have joined Ferrari.

At Maranello, Lewis Hamilton will reunite with Loic Serra, who will be the head of the chassis department, and Jerome D’Ambrosio, who will oversee the young drivers of the Ferrari Driver Academy. Both have a past with Mercedes and were announced as part of Ferrari some time ago.
