Charles Leclerc warns Ferrari: “To fight for the F1 title, we can’t start like last year”. Charles Leclerc knows what Ferrari needs to compete for the title.

Charles Leclerc and the dream of winning the World Championship with Ferrari
Since arriving at Ferrari, Charles Leclerc has had only one goal in mind: bringing the World Championship back to Maranello. In his first six years, due to a car not up to the challenge, the Monegasque had to settle for podium finishes. However, expectations have never been higher than this season, both because Lewis Hamilton has joined Ferrari (which will further motivate the team and Charles Leclerc himself) and because the Scuderia has made tangible progress under Fred Vasseur‘s management.

Will these improvements allow the Monegasque to achieve his dream? It’s hard to say before the Bahrain tests have even begun. However, Charles Leclerc knows what must absolutely be avoided if the goal is to win the title.

Charles Leclerc’s comments
“The goal is definitely to start this new season on the right foot and be at least on par with the front-running drivers to fight from the very beginning of the championship. This is because our season was very solid, but we weren’t fast enough in the first half. To win the championship, we definitely need to start these first races at the front or at least battle with the others,” said the Monegasque. “I think it is very difficult to pinpoint exactly what prevented us from winning in 2024. There were many factors; we certainly made a mistake with the upgrade in Spain, and I think we weren’t competitive enough for too large a part of the season. However, we did a great job in the second half of the year, and I hope we can use this momentum to start 2025 in the best possible way.” – he pointed out.

In short, short-term goals. For Charles Leclerc, Ferrari must focus on starting strong, and only if they are competitive from the outset can they dream: “It’s still too early to say if I can seriously fight for the title this year. If we have a car capable of consistently battling at the front, I think so. I feel like it will be a very, very close season. If that’s the case, then I see many contenders for the title. Of course, I believe in myself and think I have what it takes to do it.” – the Monegasque driver concluded.
