Home » Leo Turrini reveals truth about Adrian Newey and Ferrari: “Here’s what John Elkann told me”

Leo Turrini reveals truth about Adrian Newey and Ferrari: “Here’s what John Elkann told me”. Leo Turrini recounted everything he knows about the possible move of Adrian Newey to Ferrari.

Adrian Newey

Italian journalist and Ferrari insider Leo Turrini responded on his own blog *Profondo Rosso* to various questions, also recounting everything he knows about the possible move of Adrian Newey to the Maranello team.

Leo Turrini’s comments

Here are the comments of the Italian journalist on this matter: “It was February. Ferrari had already announced Lewis Hamilton. I had the pleasure of meeting John Elkann. Just the two of us.”

“He explains to me that he’s trying to also get Adrian Newey, who had not yet ended his contract with Red Bull. But he adds: it won’t be easy. That’s why I’ve always been very cautious about the matter.”

“Curiously, AN [Adrian Newey, editor’s note] loves Ferrari. But he has never wanted to work in Italy, for reasons related to his biography.”

“It’s not fair to say that if AN goes elsewhere, then everyone at Ferrari is a fool. Thinking like that means understanding nothing about professional dynamics and also about human traits.” – Leo Turrini pointed out.

“There should be a minimum of balance in judgments, and above all, the mountains of fake news should be weighed carefully. I’ve read some really delirious ones” – the Italian journalist and F1 expert concluded.

Where will Adrian Newey go?
According to the latest rumors, it seems that Ferrari has missed the opportunity to hire the historic British engineer. At this moment, the most credible option for Adrian Newey’s future would currently be a move to Aston Martin, allowing him to stay in England. However, other teams cannot be ruled out: McLaren has expressed its disinterest, but Williams and Alpine could possibly convince the former Red Bull technical director at the last minute.

In short, the puzzle about Adrian Newey’s next team is still unresolved, but one thing is certain: as Leo Turrini rightly stated, whoever hires the engineer will not be guaranteed success, and on the other hand, whoever lets him slip away (whether by choice or circumstance) is not doomed to a lack of victories.
