Ferrari is looking ahead, not only in motorsport. In Maranello, a series of investments have been approved in recent months, aimed at transforming the company, which has evolved over the years from a simple workshop preparing race cars and a few dozen road cars into a *gigafactory* producing a wide range of vehicles: internal combustion, electric, and hybrid. This slow but unstoppable process will soon be joined by another piece, expanding the list of facilities available to Ferrari. We are talking about the new *Fast Track*, a new test circuit for vehicles that, in practice, will complement and double the contribution made by the Fiorano track.
In a few years, the new production vehicles and prototypes coming out of Maranello (currently tested, approved, and certified on adjacent roads and the Modena hills) will go through this process indoors, especially to reduce dangerous situations that have occurred in the past, given the high-performance nature of these cars. This need led to the idea of designing and building a new indoor track to safely test Ferrari’s latest innovations, away from prying eyes, and, if necessary, certify them. An ambitious project entrusted to the renowned company *Dromo* of Jarno Zaffelli, which, as done in Zandvoort, has designed a custom track with elevated corners to allow for reaching speeds suitable for the certification of Ferrari vehicles, taking into account the available space.
The project will be built in the area adjacent to the Fiorano track and is rumored to include a connection to the historic Ferrari test track. It will occupy an area of over 28,000 square meters, previously used as a vaccination center during the Covid-19 emergency. With the emergency subsiding, the Maranello leadership decided to use this area for the ‘Ferrari Fast Track’ project, which, as mentioned, will be indoors and, most importantly, environmentally friendly, as well as architecturally cutting-edge.
