Carlos Sainz reveals turning point that made Ferrari SF24 competitive and revived F1 title fight. Carlos Sainz acknowledges that Ferrari’s car at mid-season was practically undriveable.

Carlos Sainz acknowledges that Ferrari’s car at mid-season was practically undriveable, but despite this major issue, the team managed to find a balance that marked a definitive turning point. Thanks to a positive trend in the second half of the season, the Maranello team was able to get back into contention.

Currently, Ferrari is only 36 points behind McLaren in the Constructors’ Championship, despite Woking’s team having proven to be by far the favorite for the final win. The papaya team has been the only one not to suffer any setbacks throughout the season, successfully implementing all updates and developments.

The same cannot be said for Ferrari, which faced significant difficulties with the first major update package. In the Spanish Grand Prix weekend at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, where the SF24 Evo debuted, the Maranello team started facing problems that were later resolved in subsequent races.

The Constructors’ Championship remains Ferrari’s goal
For a period during the season, Ferrari proved to be difficult to drive. The updates in Monza and the wing brought to Singapore were the lifeline that helped Ferrari win 3 of the last 6 races.

“The improvement of Ferrari can be attributed to a small step in terms of downforce, but it was perhaps an even bigger step toward the car working with more rigidity. I’m happy that the car doesn’t bounce so much and that it does so within a decent window,” says Carlos Sainz ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

“The way we’ve taken control of a season that could have gone very badly perfectly demonstrates how strong the team has been and how we didn’t let ourselves be defeated. Everyone, except McLaren, has experienced ups and downs this season. We also had a negative moment, but we proved we are strong and capable of recovering to fight until the end,” Carlos Sainz concluded.

In short, there are still 3 races to go for the dream Ferrari is continuing to chase. To bring a championship back to Maranello that has been missing for 16 long years.
