Frederic Vasseur has spoken of an imminent announcement after the summer break regarding Ferrari’s new organizational structure: is a high-profile figure on the way?
Ferrari, a new reinforcement coming
After an extremely difficult period, the performance shown by the SF-24 in the Hungarian Grand Prix gives hope for the continuation of the 2024 Formula 1 championship, with the car proving to be the fastest on track in the middle stint on hard tires, to the point of almost regretting a fourth place that, with a straightforward strategy, could have allowed Charles Leclerc to duel with Lewis Hamilton for the third step on the podium.
With the Hungaroring stage behind, the sport will move immediately to Belgium, with the long corners of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit expected to favor the qualities of Red Bull, McLaren, and Mercedes to the detriment of Ferrari.
The Maranello team, however, does not intend to play the role of Cinderella at Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps and has already prepared some anti-bouncing adjustments that should, at least on paper, mitigate the bouncing at high speeds and allow Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz to find a better feeling with the car.
However, despite the recent departure of Enrico Cardile, who will move to Aston Martin in 2025, Frederic Vasseur is not worried about the technical direction, with an important name ready to be announced after the holidays: “For us, it’s not a drama, everything is clear. We will announce the new organization after the summer break.”
“We have a group of more than 200-300 people working on this or on this project. It is not about one person, it is not a drama. I always push to explain that individuals are less important than the group. It is true when you hire someone and it is true when you lose them.” – the French manager pointed out.
“I am not at all worried about this. The stability of the group is there, people work very well together. We have shown that we have worked as a team in difficult times. I do not want to focus on a single event, but in 12 months we have closed two-thirds of the gap with the winner thanks also to the work done in the factory. This means that I have great confidence in them. We definitely have to continue. I am not happy with the result, I do not want there to be misunderstandings. I am not happy to be 20 seconds behind someone, but last year we were 65 seconds behind the leader.” – the Ferrari team boss added.

Finally, returning to the famous signing coming after the summer break, the Frenchman added with an ironic tone: “How big is the new name? I have a couple of names with five letters.”
While waiting for the new reinforcement, Fred Vasseur will lead the team in the role of interim technical director, in addition to his usual duties as team principal. There is also growing anticipation for the arrival of Loic Serra, strongly desired by the manager from France, but who will be operational only starting from October.
