Even at the Hungaroring circuit in Hungary, Charles Leclerc experienced problems with the drinking system. The last time this happened was in Miami, during this year’s race. The Monegasque driver endured a real test of strength in the sunny and scorching Florida heat, unable to drink while driving in 60-degree temperatures.
The drinking system is located inside a driver’s cockpit. The system is operated by a small pump that delivers water mixed with mineral salts. The reservoir holds about one and a half liters of water and is activated directly by the driver via a control on the car’s steering wheel. The drinking system doesn’t provide cold water, but it allows the driver to drink and cope with the high temperatures.
At the end of the Hungarian Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc spoke over the radio with his engineer, reporting that he had very little water throughout the race. “I think we’re putting in too little water. In any case, I drink very little, but it’s starting to be at the limit.”
Bryan Bozzi responded immediately, explaining that it was something unusual, as the drinking system “should be full of water.”
Charles Leclerc pointed out that “it’s not the first time” this has happened to him – as mentioned before, there was the case in Miami. “But at the end of the race, I’m thirsty.” Bryan Bozzi then confirmed that they would try to understand the problem and “fix it.”
Despite the problem, the Monegasque driver still managed to complete a good race, which represents a decent step forward for Ferrari. With the hard tires, driver #16 had an excellent pace, getting close to Max Verstappen, who was chasing Lewis Hamilton.
