Home » Stefano Domenicali possible new CEO of MotoGP: Formula 1 responds to recent rumors

Stefano Domenicali possible new CEO of MotoGP: Formula 1 responds to recent rumors. Ex-Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali is expected to retain his position as F1 CEO through 2025.

Following the dismissal of former race director Niels Wittich and the step back taken by Liberty Media‘s current CEO Greg Maffei, Stefano Domenicali, who has led the premier class since 2020, has also come under scrutiny in recent hours.

According to Jack Plooij, the Italian manager is next in line to resign, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

The Dutch journalist claims that the appointment of Donald Trump as the new President of the United States “will have important consequences for FOM, because Stefano Domenicali will also leave.”

“It is believed that Stefano Domenicali is doing an excellent job, isn’t it? He will remain within the organization, but Stefano Domenicali’s new position will bizarrely be that of CEO of MotoGP. He will develop it in the same way he did with F1.”

After acquiring 100% of CVC Capital’s shares in 2017, the American group decided to entrust the new direction to the former Ferrari team principal, achieving excellent results despite occasional discontent.

The Americans’ goal now is to replicate the same model that has led Formula 1 to exponential growth across all areas, both in terms of viewership and sold-out events at nearly all the circuits on the calendar.

However, Formula 1 has sought to dismiss the rumors, with the former Ferrari team principal expected to retain his position through 2025. Nevertheless, his possible involvement as a consultant in the new era of the top two-wheel category cannot be ruled out. Updates are likely to follow in the coming weeks.
