There is now less than a week left until February 14, Valentine’s Day, when Scuderia Ferrari will present the SF-23 to the world, the single-seater with which the Maranello team will take part in the 2023 Formula One world championship.
A car that, after the “F1” nomenclature used for last year’s car, takes up the abbreviation “SF” introduced in 2015 by then president Sergio Marchionne. Contrary to this change in terms of acronym, the next Maranello F1 car, from a performance point of view, will be called upon to complete the work started by its successor, taking the last and decisive step forward to beat the competition and bring back a title world championship that Maranello has been missing for 15 years.
A far from easy task for the new single-seater which, however, according to the rumors that have emerged from the Ferrari Racing Division, seems ready not to disappoint expectations. In fact, according to the information gathered over the past few months, it will be lighter than the F1-75 (below the minimum weight limit imposed by the FIA), more reliable thanks to the work done by the engineers to strengthen Maranello’s fragile but powerful power unit and more efficient from an aerodynamic point of view to do well even on medium-low downforce tracks.
But in addition to the single-seater, Frederic Vasseur’s team is also paying great attention to the launch event of the new SF-23 which, after years of the pandemic, will once again be held in person, with partners and the press invited to participate. A presentation that generates a lot of great interest since, according to information from the Italian media and according to indications that have appeared on the social channels of some Maranello figures, a small grandstand has been installed on the home track of Ferrari.

A grandstand whose main purpose, one could assume, is to host the public invited to the ceremony (sponsors, partners and press, as mentioned) thus suggesting, therefore, that the presentation could take place on the track near Maranello. In the same way, however, considering the source from which the images come, one could suppose that this installation is aimed at allowing a small number of people (perhaps members of the Scuderia Ferrari Club) to closely witness the shakedown of the SF-23 in the minutes just after the announcement.
A shakedown that has been planned for some time and which will be useful for the sponsors to make promotional films, but also for the Italian side to verify the basis operations of the single-seater and to allow the drivers to have a first run with the new car. After that, the SF-23 challenger will be sent to Bahrain where, from 23 to 25 February, the winter testing session will take place, useful for preparing for the first Grand Prix of the 2023 Formula One season which, on 5 March, will also be held on the Sakhir track.
